Legal Module


Description
This module is designed for judges, attorneys and other legal professionals who work with children who may have experienced trauma.

Learning Objectives


The goals for this module are:

1. Participants will recognize dynamics associated with child sexual abuse and other traumatic events that may impact a victim’s ability to disclose or recall events.
2. Participants will identify at least three California statutes relevant to protection of victims who have experienced trauma.
3. Participants will be able to summarize how a multi-disciplinary team approach can reduce trauma to victims and their families.
4. Participants will gain at least two strategies on how to effectively work with families who have been impacted by trauma, and how to refer them to services.
5. Participants will learn three trauma-informed practices that can be incorporated into legal systems and courts to improve services for victims of human trafficking.

The content of this module is instructed by the following legal professionals: David Broady, retired senior deputy district attorney from Placer County; Roger Canaff, legal expert, author, and public speaker; Jennifer Ow, assistant district attorney for Placer County.

This course offers 1 hour of Minimum Continuing Education (MCLE) credit. CA Accredited MCLE Provider #15175. The cost is $45.
