This introductory module is a the third of three core courses.

To pass this course you will need a score of 80% or higher on the final quiz. This module expands on the long-lasting effects of trauma by featuring stories from survivors.

In this module two survivors, entrepreneur and activist Midsi Sanchez and graphic artist and activist Mark Harris and Sanchez share their stories. It also features several subject matter experts (co-founder of the Harvey Institute Al Killen-Harvey; Founding Director of the Joyful Child Foundation Erin Runnion; and Cari Teran, LMFT) who help us process these stories and identify opportunities where trauma-informed strategies can be employed.

Learning Objectives:

• Participants will be able to describe emotions, frustrations, and challenges created by traumatic events.

• Participants will be able to name behaviors associated with traumatic stress in victims and families.

• Participants will be able to identify how trauma-informed care can support victims in the process of overcoming daily life struggles.

• Participants will be able to recognize the impact of trauma on a client’s family structure and relationships

• Participants will be able to state strategies to support and serve victims of trauma and their families.
